What Are Acoustics?
Acoustics are the study of sound. There are many fields to acoustical engineering:- architectural acoustics
- environmental acoustics
- underwater acoustics
- physiological acoustics
- psychological acoustics
- speech communication
- musical acoustics
- medical acoustics
- bioacoustics
Within these fields, there are many other specifics branching off into different parts of acoustical research. There is active noise cancellation, or ANC, which slurs sound waves and is typically used in therapy offices. Therefore, ANC falls into the category of psychological acoustics. There is research going on about dolphins, and how their ultrasonic communication works. That would be in the field of underwater acoustics. In conclusion, acoustics are as much of a thing, but rather an idea.
